How it works

From survey to switch-on

How a BRISK Solar installation runs, step by step, and when you pay. The steps are the same for homes, businesses and farms. What differs between them is set out further down the page.

Ask for a quote

Tell us about your property and what you’d like to power. We ask for the full address so we can look at it before we visit.

Free survey

We look at your roof with mapping and solar design software, then visit to check your roof, supply, fuse board and how you use electricity. No obligation.

Fixed written quote

Panels, inverter and battery sized to you, with a fixed price, the payment stages and the timetable in writing.

Sign and pay 50%

When you sign the installation agreement and place your order, you pay 50%. We then order your equipment and book your installation date.

NIE Networks

We make the G98/NI or G99/NI application for you. Which one applies depends on the system, as set out below.

Installation day

Homes usually take one visit. For businesses and farms, we agree a schedule around your working day.

Go live and pay 50%

We test the system and switch it on with you. The remaining 50% is due that day.

Handover

Once your full payment has cleared, we transfer the app to you, register your warranties in your name and give you your handover pack.

Homes or business

What differs for homes, businesses and farms

Homes

  • Terms. Our Terms and Conditions for Home Customers apply, with the BRISK Solar service terms.
  • VAT. 0% on solar panels and batteries installed in homes until 31 March 2027, then 5%.S26
  • Grid. A single-phase system with an inverter up to 3.68 kW is “fit and inform” under G98/NI, so we notify NIE Networks after installation. Larger systems, three-phase systems and most with a battery need G99/NI approval before we install.S21
  • Your right to cancel. You can cancel within 14 days, counted from the day after you sign, without giving a reason. We book your installation after those 14 days unless you ask us in writing to start sooner. If you cancel in that time, we refund what you have paid, less a fair amount for any work you asked us to start early.
  • Your deposit. We are not currently a member of a renewables consumer code, so your deposit is not covered by an insurance-backed deposit guarantee.

Businesses and farms

  • Terms. Our General Terms and the BRISK Solar service terms apply.
  • VAT. VAT is charged at the standard rate on business and farm installations.
  • Grid. Larger systems need G99/NI approval from NIE Networks before installation.S21 Under the G99/NI Fast Track, since 1 May 2026, up to 60 A per phase can be installed, with export still capped at 16 A per phase.S34
  • Cancelling. Business contracts have no 14-day cancellation period. If you cancel after we have ordered your equipment, the equipment and any work done are chargeable.
  • Funding. If you are applying for the NISEP business grant through Power NI, you need the offer before work starts.S29 See solar grants in Northern Ireland.
